Children’s Kung Fu

Little Dragons’s Kung Fu

Our children’s Kung Fu classes provide a dynamic and engaging introduction to the ancient martial art of Kung Fu. Specifically designed for young learners, these classes create a safe and supportive environment where children can develop physical fitness, mental focus, and discipline—all while having fun and making new friends.

Led by experienced instructors passionate about teaching children, our classes cater to the unique needs and abilities of young learners. Through a blend of traditional Kung Fu techniques, interactive games, and age-appropriate exercises, children will build confidence, coordination, and self-esteem as they progress on their martial arts journey.

At the UK Shaolin Centre, we believe in nurturing not only our students’ physical skills but also their character development. Through the practice of Kung Fu, children learn valuable life lessons such as respect, perseverance, and self-control, which they can apply both inside and outside the classroom.

Join us in empowering the next generation of martial artists to unleash their full potential and become confident, disciplined, and resilient individuals. Whether your child is a complete beginner or has some prior experience, our children’s Kung Fu classes offer a supportive and enriching environment for growth and learning.

Age Groups in the Little Dragon Kung Fu Program

Our Little Dragon Kung Fu program features two age groups: Tiny Tiger Kung Fu (4 – 6 yrs) and Little Dragon Kung Fu (7 – 13 yrs). Each group focuses on key developmental areas tailored to children’s specific needs.

Tiny Tigers Kung Fu (4 – 6 yrs)

Our Tiny Tigers class introduces children aged 4-6 to the fundamentals of Kung Fu in a fun and engaging way. Young students will learn foundational techniques, including stretches, stances, various kicks and punches, jumps, combination movements, and forms—all through playful activities, movement-based games, simulations, and storytelling.

The primary focus of these classes is to help children develop coordination, focus, and attention while providing an active environment for exploration and movement. To enhance their experience, children will work with safe, age-appropriate equipment such as soft crash mats, springboards, foam shapes, light kettlebells, dumbbells, and toys, all while enjoying plenty of fun along the way!

Little Dragon Kung Fu (7 – 13 yrs)

Our Little Dragon Kung Fu classes for children aged 7-13 focus on advancing Kung Fu skills while fostering discipline, confidence, and coordination. Students will work on foundational movements, including stretches, stances, kicks, punches, jumps, and acrobatics, while also learning combination movements, empty hand forms, and basic weapons forms. The program incorporates both traditional and modern Kung Fu and Wushu routines, tailored to their abilities and skill levels.

Each class follows a structured weekly schedule, beginning with a warm-up, followed by foundational drills, forms practice, and concluding with a cool-down. The Little Dragon Kung Fu program is designed to keep students engaged, helping them grow both physically and mentally as they progress through the art of Kung Fu.

Recommendations

To ensure your child gets the most out of their Little Dragon Kung Fu classes, we recommend bringing the following items:

  1. Comfortable Clothing: Ensure your child wears loose, comfortable clothing suitable for movement. A t-shirt and tracksuit bottoms or shorts are ideal. For long-term participants, consider investing in a Kung Fu uniform (available at the UK Shaolin Centre) or order from SynergyFiit.
  2. Water Bottle: Hydration is essential, so please pack a refillable water bottle for your child to stay refreshed during class.
  3. Light Snacks (Optional): If the class is after school or during a break, a light snack can help keep energy levels up. Make sure it’s something simple and healthy, like a piece of fruit.
  4. Footwear: Classes are typically conducted barefoot for safety and to maintain proper form. If needed, clean, non-slip indoor shoes can be worn. You can also order specific shoes for Kung Fu and Wushu from SynergyFiit.
  5. Positive Attitude: Encourage your child to approach each session with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. Kung Fu is as much about mindset as it is about physical training.

These recommendations will help your child have a positive and productive experience in their Little Dragon Kung Fu journey!
